Happy and Holy 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time!  Truly God is very good in every way imaginable and those we cannot even imagine.  Thank you to everyone who helped to make the celebration of our Feast Day of St. Lawrence the Martyr such a great blessing, both at the Masses on Thursday and then the Friday Night Dinner. Sharing a meal, both in Eucharist and around the dinner table, are the blessings of God’s wonder.  If you didn’t receive the parish gift, the books are in the back of the church.

We have been talking a lot about what it is to Become Eucharistic People these past few months and we will continue on into the Fall of this year.  It is not by accident that we are taking about this blessing.  As part of the Eucharistic Revival, we as a parish will be working with our Bishop and the bishops across the United States in encountering the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. In this work I need your help. You will find some fliers in the back of the church inviting you to consider becoming a small group leader to help to lead our parish in this blessing of encountering Jesus. The Diocese of San Jose is offering training for this both on Zoom and in person. If you are interested, please contact me and we will work together to grow our parish community.

Why is this important? First and foremost, a relationship with Jesus in the Eucharist is the most secure foundation we can have as Catholic Christians.  But beyond this reality, one of the major themes coming out of the parish meetings and subsequent conversations I have had with our fellow parishioners was the need for more opportunities to learn to pray together and understanding our faith.  These small groups are one of the steps in beginning the process of growing our faith in the Eucharist and Jesus’ presence in our lives.

Last, but certainly not least, our Parish School is beginning this coming week. Our staff at the school has worked hard this summer to prepare to welcome the returning families as well as the new incoming families to receive the gift of Catholic education.  It is not to late to enroll if you have a student or know a family that wants the gift of Catholic education.  Give the school office a call.

¡Feliz y Santo domingo XIX del Tiempo Ordinario! Verdaderamente Dios es muy bueno en todos los sentidos, tanto los que podemos imaginar, como los inimaginables.  ¡Gracias a todos los que ayudaron tanto en las misas del jueves como la cena del viernes por la noche para hacer que la celebración de la Fiesta de San Lorenzo Mártir fuera una gran bendición!  ¡Compartir una comida, tanto en la Eucaristía como alrededor de la mesa, son las bendiciones del asombro de Dios! Si no recibió el libro de regalo de la parroquia, puede agarrarlo de la parte de atrás de la iglesia.

Hemos estado hablando mucho estos últimos meses, sobre el libro titulado:” Convertirse en Personas Eucarísticas” y continuaremos haciéndolo hasta el otoño de este año. No es casualidad que estemos hablando de esta bendición.  Como parte del Avivamiento Eucarístico, como parroquia trabajaremos con nuestro Obispo y los obispos de los Estados Unidos para descubrir la presencia real de Jesús en la Eucaristía. En este trabajo necesito su ayuda.  Encontrará algunos volantes en la parte de atrás de la iglesia que lo invitan a considerar convertirse en líder de un grupo pequeño para ayudar a guiar a nuestra parroquia en esta bendición de encontrar a Jesús.  La Diócesis de San José está ofreciendo capacitación para esto, tanto vía zoom, como en persona. Si está interesado, comuníquese conmigo y trabajaremos juntos para hacer crecer nuestra comunidad parroquial.

¿Porque es esto importante? Ante todo, una relación con Jesús en la Eucaristía es la base más segura que podemos tener como cristianos católicos. Pero más allá de esta realidad, uno de los temas principales que surgieron de las reuniones parroquiales y las conversaciones posteriores que tuve con nuestros compañeros feligreses fue la necesidad de más oportunidades para aprender a orar juntos y comprender nuestra fe. Estos pequeños grupos son uno de los pasos para comenzar el proceso de crecimiento de nuestra fe en la Eucaristía y la presencia de Jesús en nuestras vidas.

Por último, pero ciertamente no menos importante, nuestra Escuela Parroquial comenzará la próxima semana. Nuestro personal de la escuela ha trabajado arduamente este verano para prepararse para recibir a las familias que regresan, así como a las nuevas familias que ingresan para recibir el regalo de la educación católica. No es tarde para inscribirse si tiene un estudiante o conoce una familia que quiere el regalo de la educación católica. Llame a la oficina de la escuela.
