Happy and hope-filled 5th Sunday in Ordinary Time. If we pull out our long range glasses, we will see that the Season of Lent is fast approaching. I point this out only to remind us to begin to prepare. I can assure you that your parish and school staffs are busy looking forward while continuing to serve today.
Last week we began our Annual Diocesan Appeal (ADA) as we heard from Bishop Oscar Cantú about why, for us as the Diocese of San Jose, the ADA is an important part of our stewardship of treasure. The support of the work of the Diocese and importantly at this time, the implementation of the Diocesan Pastoral Plan, allows us to move forward in the spiritual renewal of all people. The outreach necessary for this missionary work can only be done when united in the Jubilee Hope we true become true disciples of Jesus Christ.
As we shared last week, our “stretch goal” this year is for the renewal of the parish hall space including the kitchen. Please make a pledge to support the ADA this year. I have made my pledge and I thank all who have already completed their pledges, either by envelope or electronically.
As we continue to travel through 33 Days to Eucharistic Glory, we are going to take a little bit of a turn. First, I would invite you to continue to read and pray with the book, but also to go back, re-read and pray with the days and dreams that have touched your hearts. Perhaps, like day 26 in remembering our First Holy Communion.
Beginning today, we will be showing a short video talking about the Eucharist and devotion to the Blessed Sacrament. Your parish priest will be offering these reflections. We are doing videos of our witness talks to allow all parishioners, at every Mass, to hear and see Fr. Ryan, Fr. Ukeme, and Fr. Mark share how they encounter Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. If you remember the book Beautiful Eucharist which we received last year, your priests will be telling their story. Our hope is to spark in all of us a memory of our own Eucharistic story.
Lastly, please say a prayer this week for our Confirmation Candidates and the leadership team as they head off for retreat next weekend.

Feliz y esperanzador V Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario. Si sacamos nuestros binoculares, veremos que la temporada de Cuaresma se acerca rápidamente. Lo señalo únicamente como un recordatorio para empezar a prepararnos. Puedo asegurarles que tanto el personal de la parroquia como de la escuela estamos ocupados mirando hacia el futuro mientras continuamos sirviéndoles hoy.
La semana pasada al comenzar nuestra Campaña Anual Diocesana (ADA) escuchamos al Obispo Oscar Cantú hablar del por qué para nosotros como Diócesis de San José, la ADA es una parte importante de nuestra administración de los recursos monetarios. El apoyo al trabajo de la Diócesis y, lo que es importante en este momento, la implementación del Plan Pastoral Diocesano nos permite avanzar en la renovación espiritual de todas las personas. El alcance necesario para esta obra misionera sólo se puede hacer cuando unidos en la Esperanza del Jubileo nos convertimos en verdaderos discípulos de Jesucristo.
Como lo compartimos la semana anterior, nuestra "meta ampliada" este año es la renovación del espacio del salón parroquial, incluida la cocina. Haga una promesa de apoyar la ADA este año. Yo ha hice mi promesa y agradezco a todos los que ya han completado sus promesas, ya sea por sobre o electrónicamente.
A medida que seguimos avanzando en nuestro viaje a través del libro: 33 días hacia la gloria eucarística, vamos a dar un ligero giro. Primero, los invito a continuar leyendo y orando con el libro, pero también a regresar y releer y orar con los días y sueños que han tocado sus corazones. A partir de hoy, mostraremos un video corto hablando sobre la Eucaristía y la devoción al Santísimo Sacramento. Su párroco ofrecerá estas reflexiones. Estamos haciendo videos de nuestras charlas de testimonio para permitir que todos los feligreses, en cada misa, escuchen y vean al Padre Ryan, al Padre Ukeme y al Padre Mark compartir cómo es su encuentro con Jesucristo en la Eucaristía. Si recuerdan el libro Hermosa Eucaristía que recibimos el año pasado, sus sacerdotes contarán su historia. Nuestra esperanza es despertar en todos nosotros el recuerdo de nuestra propia historia eucarística.
Por último, esta semana, por favor, digan una oración por nuestros candidatos a la Confirmación y el equipo de liderazgo, que se van de retiro el próximo fin de semana.
