Peace and blessings on the 8th Sunday in Ordinary Time.  This is the last Sunday before we begin our great and holy journey of Lent beginning this Ash Wednesday. (Please see the list of liturgies in the bulletin.) Let us give thanks to God for all his blessings.

First, thank you to everyone who has pledged to the Annual Diocesan Appeal (ADA) this year.  Supporting the greater work of the Diocese and the work of evangelization in this Jubilee of the Hope brings joy to my heart.  The Pastoral plan of the Diocese continues to point us towards hope in the future and the spiritual renewal of the Diocese of San Jose and the whole Catholic Church.

Second, if you have not yet pledged in support of the ADA campaign, I would invite you to do so today.  Our hope is always for 100% participation from all St. Lawrence the Martyr families.  You can either: (a) use the envelopes provided at the entrances of the church or (b) use the QR code to donate electronically. No donation is too small or too large… it is about sharing the mission and journey together.

Third, I hope you have enjoyed the Eucharistic stories the priests have shared this past three weeks.  And I hope you have thought about and shared with family and friends your own stories.  In the coming weeks we will ask volunteers from the parish to share their own stories of faith in encountering Jesus in the Eucharist.

This week we turn to the saints and ask the question of how saints impact our life here and how devotion to and the intercession of saints have helped us grow in faith and charity.  Each of your priests will share their encounter and story of the saints and how they lead us closer to Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Finally, we will once more be using the “Little Black Book” for Lenten reflections throughout this time of penance and preparation.  It is a wonderful gift to each member of the community…but…it is not meant to be used in isolation.  Please share your thoughts and prayers with family, friends and neighbor as we journey together toward Holy Week.  Faith grows when it is shared.

Paz y bendiciones en este VIII Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario. Este es el último domingo antes de iniciar nuestro gran y santo camino de Cuaresma que comienza este Miércoles de Ceniza. (vea el programa litúrgico en el boletín). Demos gracias a Dios por todas sus bendiciones.

En primer lugar, agradezco a todos los que se han comprometido para contribuir este ano a la Campaña Anual Diocesana (ADA).  Apoyar el tremendo trabajo de la Diócesis, así como el de evangelización en este Jubileo de la Esperanza llena de alegría mi corazón. El plan pastoral de la Diócesis continúa fortaleciéndonos hacia la esperanza en el futuro y la renovación espiritual de la Diócesis de San José y de toda la Iglesia Católica.

En segundo lugar, si aún no se ha comprometido a apoyar la campaña ADA, lo invito a hacerlo hoy. Nuestra esperanza es siempre una participación del 100% de todas las familias de San Lorenzo Mártir. Usted puede: a) utilizar los sobres que se proporcionan en las entradas de la iglesia, o b) utilizar el código QR para donar electrónicamente. Ningún donativo es demasiado pequeño o grande… porque de lo que se trata, es de compartir la misión y el camino juntos.

En tercer lugar, espero que hayan disfrutado las historias eucarísticas que los sacerdotes han compartido durante las últimas tres semanas. Y espero que hayan pensado y compartido con familiares y amigos sus propias historias. En las próximas semanas, les pediremos a los voluntarios de la parroquia que compartan sus propias historias de fe al encontrarse con Jesús en la Eucaristía.

Esta semana nos concentraremos en los santos, para preguntarnos cómo es que los santos impactan nuestra vida aquí y, cómo la devoción y la intercesión de los santos nos han ayudado a crecer en la fe y la caridad. Cada uno de sus sacerdotes compartirá su historia y encuentro con los santos, así como de qué manera nos acercan a Nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

Finalmente, una vez más usaremos el “Pequeño Libro Negro” para las reflexiones de Cuaresma durante este tiempo de penitencia y preparación. Es un regalo maravilloso para cada miembro de la comunidad… pero… no está destinado a usarse de manera aislada. Por favor, comparta sus pensamientos y oraciones con familiares, amigos y vecinos mientras caminamos juntos hacia la Semana Santa. La fe crece cuando se comparte. Tenga la seguridad de que oramos por usted y le pedimos que ore por nosotros.
