Happy and holy Third Sunday In Lent.  We are moving very quickly during this Lenten time of penance and preparation.  My prayers are with you as we journey with the Little Black Book helping us to reflect on the mysteries we are celebrating in opening our hearts as we pray with the Gospel of St. John’s Passion narrative.  My hope is we are all continuing Ito use this wonderful instrument…but if you stopped for whatever reason, please pick-it up again today and join the parish in prayer again…you don’t need to catch up…just begin again on this Third Sunday in Lent.

Several weeks ago we sent five (5) of our fellow parishioners to The Basilica Cathedral to be with our Bishop and be accepted to continue their final preparations as the “Elect” of the Church.  Today, at two of our Masses, we will begin the final steps as the Elect will be prayed over by the community and be asked to reflect on the deeper aspects of who they are called to be in encountering the person of Jesus Christ within the Most Holy Trinity.

Today they will be asked to reflect more deeply on the mystery of Baptism and how Jesus is the Living Water.  At the two Masses, with the Scrutinies, for the next three weeks of Lent, they will hear a different Gospel than the rest of the congregation and enter into the rites more fully as the Gospel (from St. John) will speak directly to their conversion to Jesus Christ.  I would ask that we take this time to pray for and with the Elect from our parish, the diocese and the Church throughout the world, as we, with them, reflect on these mysteries.

Please continue to pray for  the success of our Annual Diocesan Appeal.  We are inching closer to our stretch goal at the parish.  The monies collected will help us to renovate the Parish Hall into a space that is more flexible and useful for the the groups using the facilities.  New flooring and replacing the aging appliances in the kitchen will be two of the blessings received.  Please give today.  Thank you to all those who have pledged and donated today.

Lastly, March 25 is our Parish Reconciliation Service at 7:00 PM in the Church.  Come and join us.  

Feliz y santo Tercer Domingo de Cuaresma. Avanzamos con paso firme en este tiempo cuaresmal de penitencia y preparación. Mis oraciones están con ustedes mientras continuamos reflexionando con el Librito Negro, sobre los misterios que celebramos, abriendo nuestros corazones al orar con el Evangelio de la Pasión de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, según San Juan. Espero que todos sigamos usando este maravilloso instrumento… pero si por alguna razón dejaron de usarlo, por favor, retómenlo nuevamente hoy y únanse a la parroquia en oración; no necesitan ponerse al día, simplemente comiencen de nuevo en este Tercer Domingo de Cuaresma.

Hace varias semanas, enviamos a cinco (5) de nuestros feligreses a la Basílica Catedral para estar con nuestro Obispo y ser aceptados para continuar sus preparativos finales como personas Elegidas por la Iglesia, para recibir los sacramentos de iniciación. Hoy, en dos de nuestras misas, continuaremos dando los pasos finales: la comunidad orará por las personas elegidas y se les pedirá que reflexionen sobre los aspectos más profundos de quiénes están llamados a ser, al encontrarse con la persona de Jesucristo en la Santísima Trinidad.

Hoy se les pedirá que reflexionen con profundidad respecto al misterio del Bautismo y el cómo Jesús es el Agua Viva.  En las dos Misas, con los Escrutinios, durante las próximas tres semanas de Cuaresma, escucharán un Evangelio diferente al del resto de la congregación y se adentrarán en los ritos con mayor profundidad, ya que el Evangelio (de San Juan) hablará directamente de su conversión a Jesucristo. Les pido que aprovechemos este tiempo para orar por y con las personas Elegidas tanto de nuestra parroquia, como de la diócesis y de la Iglesia en todo el mundo, mientras reflexionamos con ellos sobre estos misterios.

Por favor, sigan orando por el éxito de nuestra Campaña Diocesana Anual. Nos estamos acercando a nuestra meta en la parroquia. El dinero recaudado nos ayudará a renovar el Salón Parroquial para convertirlo en un espacio más flexible y útil para los grupos que utilizan las instalaciones. La colocación de pisos nuevos y la sustitución de los electrodomésticos viejos de la cocina serán dos de las bendiciones recibidas. Por favor, ¡donen hoy! Gracias a todos los que han comprometido y hecho su donativo.

Por último, el 25 de marzo tendremos nuestro Servicio Parroquial de Reconciliación a las 7:00PM en la Iglesia.  ¡Acompáñenos!
