We give glory to God as we celebrate the 12th Sunday in Ordinary Time.  Summer is in full swing in the parish, our school and throughout the world as we work, vacation and hopefully relax a little during this time of great blessing.

I will be away this weekend as I spend a few days with my family.  In a real and important way we are making up some time for missing some celebrations that were postponed because of the pandemic several years ago.  We will be celebrating my 60th birthday (3 years late) as well as what would have been my little sister and brother’s birthdays.  Big families mean a lot of celebrations.

Fr. Anthony a few weeks ago at the friendship club shared how his time at St. Lawrence the Martyr was such a blessing.  He also noted that he really felt that the parish was like a big family and how welcomed he has felt for the past two years.  It has been a true blessing for our parish and, personally as a a pastor and brother priest, to minister with him.

One of the celebrations as family we do at St. Lawrence is our summer Friday night dinners. Your parish staff hosted the first dinner this past Friday and the Knights of Columbus will host this Friday June 28th.  Two special things will be happening.  First, there will be lifeguards on duty so the pool will be open for those who wish to take the plunge.  The second is Fr. Anthony’s good-bye celebration.  All parishioners are invited to join us in saying thank you to Fr. Anthony as he makes his transition to his new assignment as pastor of Queen of Apostles Parish just down the road.

Lastly, looking ahead…don’t forget to mark your calendar for:

1. Each of the Friday Night Dinners and especially the July 26 where once more the pool will be open for swimming.
2. The Feast of St. Lawrence the Martyr on August 10th.  More information will follow as we get closer to the date.
3. First Annual Chili Cook- off in September where we will have fun and games for the whole family.

Damos gloria a Dios al celebrar el (XII) décimo segundo domingo del Tiempo Ordinario. El verano está en pleno apogeo en la parroquia, en nuestra escuela y en todo el mundo mientras trabajamos, tomamos vacaciones y, con suerte, nos relajamos un poco durante este tiempo de gran bendición.

Estaré fuera este fin de semana porque pasaré unos días con mi familia. En realidad, y algo muy importante es que estamos recuperando algunas de las celebraciones que se pospusieron por causa de la pandemia hace algunos años atrás. Celebraremos mi cumpleaños número 60 (con 3 años de retraso), así como los cumpleaños de mi hermana menor y mi hermano. ¡Las familias numerosas significan muchas celebraciones!

Hace unas semanas, el padre Anthony nos compartió que su visita al club de la amistad de San Lorenzo Mártir fue una gran bendición. Señalando que realmente pensaba que la parroquia es como una gran familia y lo bienvenido que se ha sentido durante los últimos dos años. Ha sido una verdadera bendición para nuestra parroquia, así como para mí personalmente, como pastor y hermano sacerdote, el poder ministrar con El.

Una de las celebraciones en San Lorenzo, que hacemos en familia, son nuestras cenas de verano, los viernes por la noche.  El personal de la parroquia organizó la primera cena el viernes pasado y los Caballeros de Colón la organizarán este viernes 28 de junio. Ese día, sucederán dos cosas especiales, la primera: Habrá Salvavidas, por lo que la piscina estará abierta para aquellos que deseen darse un chapuzón.  La segunda: Celebraremos la despedida del Padre Anthony.  Todos los feligreses están invitados a unirse a nosotros para agradecerle al P. Anthony, mientras hace su transición a su nueva asignación como párroco de la parroquia Reina de los Apóstoles, la cual se encuentra justo al final de la misma calle.

Por último, y mirando hacia el futuro, No olvides marcar en tu calendario lo siguiente:

1. Cada una de las cenas del viernes por la noche y en especial la del 26 de julio, ya que ese día, una vez más la piscina estará abierta para nadar.
2. La Fiesta de San Lorenzo Mártir el 10 de agosto. (Habrá más información a medida que nos acerquemos a la fecha)
3. Primer concurso anual de cocina (Chili Cook-off) en septiembre, donde tendremos juegos divertidos para toda la familia.

Que tengas una excelente semana y no olvides invitar a un amigo a misa esta semana.
