Blessings on this glorious 30th Sunday of Ordinary Time!  It is amazing, we are in the 30’s with just a few short weeks until the last Sunday in Liturgical Year, the Solemnity of Christ the King.

This week we will be celebrating two great Catholic Days. Neither of these is called “Halloween” although they have had great influence on this day. This "Solemnity celebrated on the first of November. It is instituted to honor all the saints, known and unknown, and, according to Urban IV, to supply any deficiencies in the faithful's celebration of saints' feasts during the year.” (from NewAdvent.org) This is a great reminder of how the Communion of Saints is such a powerful gift to our faith.  We all have favorite saints with whom we pray and call upon throughout our lives to help us in our struggles of faith and daily life and yet we are reminded in the Solemnity of All Saints that no matter how many saints we know by name there are a great multitude in heaven praying for each of us daily and uniting with us in the celebration of the Eucharist.  Give glory and praise to our God for all the saints!

On the Second of November, we as a Church celebrate All Souls Day where we pray for the faithfully departed of this world.  Each year the tradition at St. Lawrence the Martyr is to pray a Novena for all the dead.  There are All Souls Envelopes at the tables in the front of the Church.  Please return them to the Parish before the beginning of the Novena, November 2nd, where we will spend time in prayer honoring All Souls.  We also will have Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on All Souls Day, come and join us.

Finally, it is also the first Friday of the month and you are all invited to join us for our celebration honoring our Blessed Mother in the apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe. In November we also celebrate The Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

¡Bendiciones en este glorioso XXX domingo del Tiempo Ordinario! ¡Es sorprendente!, estamos en los 30’s y faltan pocas semanas para el último domingo del Año Litúrgico, ¡la Solemnidad de Cristo Rey!

Esta semana celebraremos dos grandes acontecimientos católicos.  Ninguno de estos se llama “Halloween” aunque ha tenido gran influencia en este día.  Esta "Solemnidad se celebra el primero de noviembre y se instituye por el papa Urbano IV para honrar a todos los santos, conocidos y desconocidos, para suplir las deficiencias en la celebración de las fiestas de los santos por parte de los fieles durante el año". (de NewAdvent.org) Este es un gran recordatorio de cómo la Comunión de los Santos es un regalo tan poderoso para nuestra fe. Todos tenemos santos favoritos con quienes oramos e invocamos a lo largo de nuestras vidas para que nos ayuden en nuestras luchas de fe y vida diaria y, sin embargo, en la Solemnidad de Todos los Santos se nos recuerda que no importa cuántos santos conozcamos por su nombre, hay una gran multitud en el cielo orando por cada uno de nosotros diariamente y uniéndose a nosotros en la celebración de la Eucaristía. ¡Alabanza a nuestro Dios por todos los santos!

El dos de noviembre, nosotros, como Iglesia, celebramos el Día de los Difuntos, donde oramos por los fieles difuntos de este mundo. Cada año, es una tradición en San Lorenzo Mártir rezar una novena por todos los que han muerto. Hay sobres en las mesas al frente de la Iglesia, para que anoten a sus fieles difuntos que quieren se incluyan en la novena. Por favor devuélvalos a la Parroquia antes del 2 de noviembre, para dedicar un tiempo de oración en honor a todas las Almas de nuestros seres queridos ya difuntos. También tendremos Adoración del Santísimo Sacramento el Día de los Muertos. ¡Venga y únase a nosotros!

Finalmente, también el primer viernes del mes, celebraremos nuestra misa en Honor a nuestra Santísima Virgen, en la advocación a Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, será el 3 de noviembre y todos están invitados a unirse a nosotros para nuestra celebración.  En el mes de noviembre también celebraremos la Presentación de la Santísima Virgen María.
